Two Pondering Machines Lab Cofounders Are Leaving to Rejoin OpenAI


Pondering Machines cofounders Barret Zoph and Luke Metz are leaving the fledgling AI lab and rejoining OpenAI, the ChatGPT-maker introduced on Thursday. OpenAI’s CEO of functions, Fidji Simo, shared the information in a memo to workers Thursday afternoon.

The information was first reported on X by expertise reporter Kylie Robison, who wrote that Zoph was fired for “unethical conduct.”

A supply shut to Pondering Machines stated that Zoph had shared confidential firm information with opponents. WIRED was unable to verify this information with Zoph, who did not instantly reply to WIRED’s request for remark.
